Are 24 & KO 2 promotions innovative or signs of desperation?
Suriya's 24 opened to positive reviews last weekend, but the collections in the interiors of Tamil Nadu haven't been encouraging. The movie has been doing well in A centres and overseas locations, but hasn't managed to create a huge impact in the B and C centres. The 24 team had published an advertisement on newspaper today, announcing that 'Free Magic Watch' will be given to kids who watch the film. It is very evident that the team is trying to woo the little kids enjoying their summer holidays to watch the film, which would ultimately bring in their parents to the theatres too.
Similarly, Ko 2 team has come up with a new promotion - Share a selfie after you vote and win free tickets for the movie. With elections around the corner and the movie also revolving around politics, the team is cleverly promoting the movie to draw more audience. The movie is hitting the screens on May 13 and will face competition from GV Prakash's Pencil and few more lesser known films.
We will have to wait and see if both the movies are able to reap benefits out of their tactical promotions.
