Akshay Kumar's Padman, a film on coimbatore based social activist Arunachalam Muruganantham is all set for a release on February 9, 2018 and the film's leading lady Sonam Kapoor shared a reminiscent image from the movie. The actress plays a tabla player cum social activist in Padman and apparently she had trained under professional tabla player and percussionist Mukta Madan Raste for the role. As an ode to the guidance of her 28-year-old teacher, Sonam wrote, "Every film gives me an opportunity to learn something new."
Directed by R. Balki, Padman also starrs Radhika Apte with Amit Trivedi for music. The film celebrates its eccentric titular character as India's superhero and as the real life Arunachalam aka "Pad=man" was the one who single handedly revolutionised the concept of menstrual hygiene in rural India by creating a low-cost sanitary napkins machine.
