Anupam Kher plays the lead role as former Prime Minister of India, Dr Manmohan Singh in the film "The Accidental Prime Minister". The much awaited political drama is based on the book by Sanjay Baru. The film has started rolling in London. The Accidental Prime Minister is slated for release on December 21, 2018. Anupam Kher's look in the film bears a striking resemblance with former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh. 

The film is directed by Vijay Gutte, written by Mayank Tewari and produced by Bohra Bros. Akshaye Khanna plays a pivotal role as Sanjaya Baru, the former media advisor to the PM.
