World Famous Lover is a 2020 Telugu movie starring Vijay Deverakonda in the lead, and the film released in theaters just before the onset of the Coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic brought the world to a screeching halt that year. World Famous Lover released in theaters on Valentine's day i.e. a whole month before the global shutdown. The movie opened to negative reviews and couldn't hold its box-office or theatrical run for long. 

3+ years later, Abhishek Pictures, distributors of this film has called out Vijay Deverakonda for his donation of Rs. 1 Cr, which is said to be a part of his remuneration of the actor's recent release Kushi. Taking to X, the official handle of Abhishek Pictures posted,

It is worth mentioning here that Vijay Deverakonda's 1 Cr donation comes amidst social media criticisms of Kushi. Vijay Devrakonda made his charity announcement stating, "So, I am giving one crore rupees from my remuneration and from Kushi's earnings to you, my family, to share my happiness with you. Soon I will select one hundred families and give a check of one lakh rupees to each family. I will put a "Spreading Kushi" form on my social media. I am happy that the money I give helps you with rents and fees..There are attacks on me and my film. They are doing fake BMS ratings and fake YouTube videos on our Kushi. Thousands of fake accounts are created and YouTube videos are circulated. Beyond all that, we are getting these numbers and success because of the love of fans and audience. You are the reason for this success."
