Before Thalaivar 170 which is Rajinikanth's next project after Jailer, the star actor will be seen in an important character role in daughter Aishwarya's directorial Lal Salaam. Lyca Productions which is backing both Thalaivar 170 and Lal Salaam, has officially announced a Lal Salaam update at 2 PM. Seemingly this will be about Lal Salaam's release date, and the movie is coming out for Pongal in January, 2024. 

Titled after the South Asian communist chant, Lal Salaam has elements of cricket in it, and will see former Indian cricketer Kapil Dev in a cameo role. Rajinikanth plays a Muslim character named Moideen Bhai while actors Vishnu Vishal, Vikrant play leads. Lal Salaam has AR Rahman for music.
