3 months after it was first buzzed that Thalaivar 170 (tentative title) might reunite Amitabh Bachchan and Rajinikanth on screen, the duo's reunion has now been officially confirmed. Lyca Productions has announced that Bollywood veteran Amitabh Bachchan will star alongside Malayalam star performer Fahadh Faasil, and Telugu actor-producer Rana Daggubati in the upcoming Tamil project. 

Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan have shared screen space in 3 Hindi movies in their multiple-decades-spanning careers. The duo was last seen in the Hindi film Hum in 1991. Thalaivar 170 marks Big B and Superstar's onscreen reunion after 32 years.

Thalaivar 170's female star cast includes Dushara Vijayan (Tamil actress), Manju Warrier (Mollywood star), and Ritika Singh (Hindi native). The film is written and directed by TJ Gnanavel for whom Thalaivar 170 is the second film after 2021's Jai Bhim. Thalaivar 170 has Anirudh for music.
