The 180.56 minute Kalki 2898 AD, written and directed by Nag Ashwin and starring Prabhas, Deepika Padukone and Amitabh Bachchan in the lead roles, hit theater screens in its complete visual glory on June 27, 2024 [Friday]. Kalki 2898 AD is a mythology based sci-fi action that is centered around the birth of Kalki, Hindu God Vishnu's tenth and final avatar according to religious scripts. 

Kalki 2898 AD borrows lore from the Mahabharata and Kali Yuga, and director Nag Ashwin's interpretation has Prabhas playing a bounty hunter named Bhairava, who is a reincarnation of Karna, one of the primary heroes of the Mahabharata. This Bhairava is up against the mighty and immortal Ashwatthama (Amitabh Bachchan), another warrior figure from Mahabharata. 

Deepika Padukone plays SUM80/Sumathi, who is pregnant with the fetus of Kalki. Set against the backdrop of a dystopian world, where Kasi is the last city of this world ruled by the evil Commander Manas (Saswata Chatterjee), and led by King Supreme Yaskin (Kamal Haasan), Kalki 2898 AD is about how humanity fights to ensure the birth of Kalki, to herald a new era in a world fraught with malevolent forces.

1st half is a lag. Even prabhas looked tired and lethargic. Only saving grace was Kamal Hassan and @SrBachchan .
His huge frame is used in totality. Only he could have played this role. 2nd half is crisp and entertaining. Climax is superb and so is prabhas

Star wars was the original, a series of novels and then a pioneering movie franchise. Star trek was a later day tv series.

Star Wars was more spiritual than this Kalki AD movie. A spiritual movie should expand ones consciousness. Just having religious characters won't make one.

Till Climax, I felt Bairava Character is unnecessary, only his link to mythological character saved him from being irrelevant.
