Malayalam actor Nivin Pauly is a well known face across the Indian film audience. Currently, the Malayalam film industry is reeling from the expose of one 'Hema Committee Report', which has revealed that women in Mollywood, especially those working the lower cadre have been subject to gross and subhuman levels of working conditions. The most prevalent issue was revealed to be casting couch, demands of sexual favours, sexual pressure and sexual assault.
Following the Hema Committe report becoming a topic, moreso because it guards the names of those accused, several junior artistes from the Malayalam film industry have once again come forth with MeToo accusations against well known actors, directors, and producers within the Mollywood industry.
Latest to be accused in this Hema Committee/MeToo storm is actor Nivin Pauly. However, the victim has filed a complaint with the Oonnukal police in Ernakulam naming Nivin Pauly as accused No: 6. Shreya, is accused No: 1 in this police case, and his acquaintances Binu, Basheer, and Kuttan are accused No: 3,4,5. Film producer AK Sunil is named as accused No: 2 in this complaint for gang rape.
The accused, a woman has alleged in his police complaint that she was promised a role in a film, for which she was asked to come to Dubai in November 2023. She was later sexually assaulted in a hotel room there, she has said. Nivin Pauly has responded to this development with a statement that reads,
"I have come across a false news report accusing me of abusing a girl. Please know that this is entirely untrue. I'm determined to go to any extent to prove these allegations are baseless and will take all necessary steps to bring those responsible to light. Thank you for your concern. The rest will be handled legally,"
