The Greatest Of All Time starring Vijay in the lead is a Tamil language action thriller that marked the debut of cinematographer Manikandan's daughter Abyuktha Manikandan. The first timer recently raked up a storm by stating in an interview that the 'Thala' reference in her scene with the two Vijays in the movie, is ambiguous and that it may either refer to Ajith or MS Dhoni, the captain of CSK cricket team.
Ajith fans were in no mood to let this pass, since Abyuktha's statement came out only days after AGS Entertainment had re-tweeted a social media post, which used derogatory language towards actor Ajith Kumar. Not to mention, Chennai Super Kings' X handle dedicating The Greatest Of All Time's Thala dialogue to MS Dhoni, AGS Entertainment re-posting CSK's tweet, and theaters in Tamil Nadu welcoming 'Thala' fans with a picture of MS Dhoni, had already added enough fuel to the raging social media fire.
Amidst negative social media trends against AGS Entertainment, and The Greatest Of All Time director Venkat Prabhu, the filmmaker has now put an end to this controversy. "I have put (Mankatha) re-recording itself, why are people still thinking about it?", joked Venkat Prabhu.
Acknowledging that he has seen Abyuktha's interview where she states that 'Thala' could refer to MS Dhoni and not necessarily Ajith, Venkat Prabhu said, "The thing is while shooting there is no music. When shooting when asked 'whose fan you are', she has to reply 'Thala'. There is no music for the girl, she's a first timer. She didn't know anything."

Clarifying that the Mankatha music makes it very clear that the 'Thala' in Abyuktha's scene refers to Ajith Kumar, Venkat Prabhu concluded, "We wanted to make a point that Thala is not Dhoni, Thala is our Thala (Ajith) only. It has been clearly conveyed there (in the scene with the Mankatha music)...But even after placing the (Mankatha) music in the movie, if people are using it for troll fights, that's when I think 'What's up with these fans, sometimes they are too dumb'. Turning this into a (Ajith-MS Dhoni) fight is (ridiculous)."
