Rajinikanth lead Vettaiyan which also stars Amitabh Bachchan in an important role, released in theaters worldwide on October 10 this Dussehra 2024. While primarily a Tamil film, Vettaiyan also released in Hindi, Telugu and Kannada as Vettaiyan: The Hunter, and has been doing extremely well at the global box-office. 

In Australia, Vettaiyan opened with a collection of Rs. 3.32 Cr. (AUD 588,380) in the first four days of release. Vettaiyan's opening weekend gross in Australia placed it at the Top 10 opening weekend collection by Tamil movies in the country.

Hindi language Bollywood action thriller Jigra which released on October 11 managed to collect only Rs. 74.15 lakhs (AUD 131405) in comparison. Punjabi film Mittran Da Challeya Truck Ni, which also released on October 11 raked in a whopping Rs. 1.82 Cr (AUD 323275) from just 69 screens, which is way less than Vettaiyan's 88 and Jigra's 78 screens in Australia. 

Vettaiyan is well on its way to become the Top 10 highest grossing Tamil films of all time in Australia. The movie is written and directed by TJ Gnanavel, and produced by Lyca Productions.
