Thalapathy 69 (tentative title) is actor Vijay's last film, as the Tamil star is venturing into politics with the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Elections in May 2026. Vijay launched his political party Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) on February 2, 2024, and held TVK's first political conference, was held in a grand manner in Chennai on October 27, 2024. Amidst his political commitments, Vijay resumed Thalapathy 69 shooting on Monday i.e. November 4, 2024. 

Thalapathy 69's talkie portions are being filmed in the second schedule, whereas the first schedule which also had Vijay in it involved shooting a dance sequence. Reportedly, Thalapathy 69's second schedule will go on till December, and the team will take a short break post that. While the movie plans to wrap by May, 2025, Vijay will be completing his portions by April, 2025. 

KVN Productions officially announced that Thalapathy 69 will release in October, 2025. While a Diwali (October 20, 2025) festival release was expected for the H Vinoth directorial, it is now being said that Thalapathy 69 release date is October 16, 2025 (Thursday) i.e. the weekend before Diwali, 2025. An official announcement on the same is however awaited. 

Phars Films, which distributed Vijay's The Greatest Of All Time (2024), has bagged the overseas rights of Thalapathy 69. A whopping Rs. 75 Cr. is said to have been paid as a single amount for Thalapathy 69's overseas rights. Also starring Bobby Deol, Pooja Hegde, Gautham Menon, Mamitha Baiju, Priya Mani, Prakash Raj, Narain, Monisha Blessy, among others, Thalapathy 69 has Anirudh Ravichander for music, Sathyan Sooryan for cinematography, Pradeep E Ragav for edits.
