Actor Siddharth is a well known face in both the Telugu, and the Tamil film industry, and during the promotions of his upcoming Tamil release Miss You (in theaters from December 13), the actor seems to have stirred the pot in the Tamil-Telugu film relations.
When the host referenced the huge crowd that had gathered in Patna, Bihar to catch a glimpse of Telugu stars Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna, when they were there to promote their latest release Pushpa 2: The Rule, Siddharth had this to say:
"That's also marketing. Crowd gathering in India (with a population of 1.4 billion) is not a big issue. Even for a JCB (referring to the heavy construction equipment from the Indian company), crowd gathers. In our place, for construction if they park a JCB, crowd gathers.
So a crowd gathering in Bihar is not that big a deal. If you arrange for a big ground and organize, a crowd will gather. They (team 'Pushpa 2') had a song and a film for it, and its ok. But in India, there is no big connection between a crowd gathering and quality.
If you see that way, then all political parties should keep winning. The crowd gathers for everyone of them. During my time, they used to call it 'biriyani, quarter packet (of alcohol)'. That is the reason (the crowd gathers).
Crowd gathering is not a big thing. That (crowd gathering as an indicator) would mean that the one with the loudest applause (from the crowd) is the biggest King. It is so easy to receive/buy applause. It is not that difficult."
While most raised eyebrows on Siddharth's stirring of the pot, some also agreed on the actor's statement on quality having nothing to do with crowds. Needless to add, there is a slight unrest between the Tamil and Telugu cine fans, but some are also brushing off Siddharth's statements as 'promotional stunt' for his December 13 release Miss You.
