Tamil star actor Ajith Kumar informed his fans on the late evening of December 10, 2024 that he finds their recent trend of chanting 'Kadavuley Ajithey' (Dear God, Ajith) to be 'disturbing'. Requesting to put an end to the slogan shouting practice, Ajith reiterated that he is 'uncomfortable with superlatives or any kind of prefix mentioned alongside his name'. 

Equating the actor to God and usage of the phrase 'Kadavul Ajithey' (God Ajith) seems to have started in 2009 in Madurai, which is a major city in Southern Tamil Nadu. The phrase seems to have been in use among senior Ajith fans for close to 15 years now, but brought to social media's attention only in recent times. 

Nevertheless, most Ajith Kumar fans have taken the actor's request in their stride, while the others are torn between taking it out on Ajith's social media voice, his manager Suresh Chandra, and going through this 'momentary grief'. Remnants of the same on X:
