Game Changer director Shankar says Mahesh Babu films made him want to do the Ram Charan starrer

Game Changer starring Ram Charan in the lead is a Telugu language political action film that releases on January 10, 2025 worldwide. The movie has story by Tamil filmmaker Karthik Subbaraj, screenplay, direction by another Kollywood director Shankar, and dialogues by Sai Madhav Burra.

During the promotional leg of Game Changer, film's director Shankar revealed that watching Mahesh Babu movies in Telugu is what made him want to do an entertainer like Game Changer. In an interview with SS Music Tamil, Shankar has stated,

"I've mentioned this in many interviews, I very much like mass masala movies like 'Dhill', 'Dhool', 'Gilli' (Tamil adaptation of 'Okkadu'). I enjoy and watch it. Similarly in Telugu 'Pokiri' (2006 Mahesh Babu starrer), 'Okkadu' (2003 Mahesh Babu starrer). These kind of films are very entertaining. Its fast pace keeps you hooked, it'll be quite jolly. I had it in the back of my mind that I should one day do a film like that.

This script (of Game Changer) had that scope..The war between an honest government officer and a politician is what this script is. The officer has a backstory, and how he inadvertently connects to the story has its own beauty. We have told this story as pacy as possible. When it comes to Game Changer,  what I believe is its speed.

Game Changer is a well edited film. Editor Ruben did this (for us). The film keeps moving with no stops. Within this we have given what I like, and what people generally expect from me. Government procedures, a government officer's power, his rights, his limits..will be new in this film."

Censored U/A, Game Changer comes with a runtime of 2 hours 30 minutes and 45 seconds. The movie is a production venture of Sri Venakteswara Creations, and has Thaman S for music, Tirru for cinematography.
