The Dhanush, Vetrimaaran combo is its own league in Tamil cinema, and the actor-director duo have four acclaimed hits to their name titled Asuran (2019), Vada Chennai (2018), Aadukalam (2011), and Polladhavan (2007). Dhanush and Vetrimaaran are all set to reunite on director Vetrimaaran's 9th film, and this was officially announced by the makers on January 13, 2025. 

RS Infotainment, producers of Vetrimaaran's last two movies Viduthalai Part 2 (2024), and Viduthalai Part 1 (2023), will be bankrolling the new Vetrimaaran, Dhanush movie. Their statement regarding the same reads,

"After the success of director Vetri Maaran's directional venture No. 7 Viduthalai Part 2, RS Infotainment is happy to once again associate with him for his upcoming directional venture No. 9, featuring the star actor Dhanush. The iconic duo behind a series of blockbusters is reuniting, promising another unforgettable cinematic experience. Further details will be revealed soon."
