Irrfan Steals Show In A Thoughtful But Predictable Satire!
Hindi Medium has its ups and downs in terms of storyline and storytelling. Some dialogues are brilliantly written but some really seem forced. In all, the film opens really well, goes to a high in the middle but a very predictable and loose end plays a spoiler. Nevertheless, a good effort by Saket, the director.(more)

Hindi Medium is a fascinatingly frustrating film
A smarter director would have tried to ramp-up the believability in the scene while discovering an extra joke in the fact that the name Priya is so common. But there are no Priyas on that sheet, none absolutely! In every scene, Choudhary and his writers try reaching out for the nearest available tune, and miss many overlapping rhythms -- which they then cover up using Gong- and Cuckoo Clock-sounds.(more)

This Irrfan Khan Starrer Passes With Flying Colors Despite A Few Hiccups!
Saket Choudhary takes up one of the most relevant subjects in todays' times and weaves it into an interesting story. Hindi Medium starts with a bang and gives you plenty of reasons to laugh your heart out at the situational humour which everyone of us could relate it. The film stirs up a conversation about how English in our country usn't just a language but associated with a class. (more)

Movie Review
Irrfan nails it with a class act, playing a man torn between his simple, unpretentious upbringing and his new wannabe avatar. Saba, as the OTT, dominating wife is sheer delight onscreen. Dobriyal is superb and in some scenes, he leaves you teary-eyed. The second half gets over-dramatic and the plot seems quite convenient, taking ample liberties. The last chapter (climax) is stretched and predictable, but in the end, it drives home the point, exposing the inadequacies and loopholes in our education system.(more)

Watch it for the glorious Irrfan Khan
Hindi Medium comes at an apt time, and shines a light on the near-insurmountable barrier that language, the knowing of one, the not knowing of another, can be. As we see Chandni Chowk merchant Raj Batra and his wife Mita struggle to get their daughter into the best schools, where the parents have to pass the entrance to the nursery test first before anything else, we see the horror stories we read and see playing out in front of us.(more)

Irrfan Khan, Saba Qamars film will make you laugh and cry
Hindi Medium is director Saket Chaudharys third film after Pyaar Ke Side Effects and Shaadi Ke Side Effects. He likes to produce comedy out of ordinary. His grip over the Delhi lingo and body language is evident from the very first scene when Khan tries to convince Mallika Dua, a customer at his studio, to buy a Manish Malhotra replica.(more)

Irrfan-Saba's performances qualify the film in the cut-off list
Hindi Medium tries to drive home a powerful message, but in the attempt, resorts to black-and-white archetypes. From the snooty and sophisticated South Delhi type to the I-will-literally-put-my-life-at-stake-to-help-you poor, everyone is a stock character. The only grey character, perhaps, is the most inconsistent and perplexing one - the principal of the Delhi Grammar School, played by Amrita Singh. She clawed her way to the top from being the daughter of a maid servant in the school, and multiple instances show her to be intolerant of any attempts to buy a seat. Her 180-degree turn in the climax is poorly explained.(more)
