Passable Light Hearted Outing.

A slice of life flick with a neat first hour as the drama is set correctly, but the last hour is mostly tasteless, extends and runs for quite some time even after the core drama is gotten over.(more)

What happens after death? Dhanush, Nithya Menen film shows you

Dhanush, Nithya Menen's rom-com proves that you don't need guns to blow audience's mind

You find yourself rooting for her from the word go. Veteran filmmaker Bharathiraja also brings such a joyful vibe to the film that you cant get enough of him. All these characters feel real because they disregard the preordained duties that are expected of them. When partially paralysed Neelakandan...(more)

Dhanush is effortless, Nithya Menen is phenomenal in endearing slice-of-life drama

Veteran filmmaker Bharathiraja gets a meaty part which he plays incredibly well. Some of the films best scenes involve Dhanush, Nithya and Bharathiraja at their best. Anirudh Ravichanders music is another major highlight of the movie. His work is a heartfelt tribute to the legendary Ilayaraja, and...(more)

Dhanush, Nithya Menen shine in a heartwarming drama

We get a few more characters who are also nice people, and that's just it. But he makes up for it with th...(more)

This is a cute, worthy successor to Velai Illa Pattadhaari

The richness of Thiruchitrambalam will surely yield fresh fruits. And Id be happy to watch a sequel that shifts the gaze towards Shobhanas aspirations. Although shes present throughout the film, Jawahar doesnt dive into her psyche. Does she drink beer at her home the way the Pazhams do? I dont ...(more)

An ill-advised end derails this mostly heartwarming film

Thiruchitrambalam for how it mostly resists easy temptation to sink into melodrama. Pazham gets rejected by a girl, and where it would be so tempting to launch into the catchy Thenmozhi Poongodi (this films version of Kolaveri Di), it doesnt. Instead, you get the warm scene of Shobana reassur...(more)

Dhanush, Nithya Menen & Bharathiraja's fantastic performances make Thiruchitrambalam, an enjoyable feel-good film, that's thoroughly engaging.

The film heavily relies on dialogues to drive the plot forward and it is done efficiently. The transformation of Pazham looks very convenient and contrived but keeps us hooked. Its a well made entertainer that ends our drought for feel good films. Thiruchitrambalam is held together by the unpara...(more)
