Amaran is a moving tribute to Major Mukund, shedding light on the sacrifices of army families. Its a film that resonates deeply, honoring bravery, sacrifice, and the indomitable spirit of the Indian Army. Sivakarthikeyan, Sai Pallavi film is an emotional tribute to army men

Sivakarthikeyan as Major Mukund Varadarajan showcases a never-seen-before side in Amaran. His demeanour and body language suits the role he took up and does full justice to it. Sai Pallavi as Indhu feels like a warm hug on a cold rainy day. Whenever she appears on-screen, you cant help but feel the emotion as she goes through them. Bhuvan Arora, who plays the role of Sepoy Vikram Singh, is yet another beautiful addition to the cast of Amaran. Rahul Bose, Geetha Kailasam, Lallu, Shreekumar and several others have ably supported the main cast. Amaran is strong on the technical front as well. Composer GV Prakashs music and background score does the perfect job of elevating the mood of the film. Cinematographer CH Sai wonderfully captured the topography of Kashmir and the battle sequences need special mention.(more)

A worthy tribute to Major Mukund's legacy with slight glitches along the way

Also, a moment between the army officers name-dropping Thuppakki to Fahadh Faasil should have been a candid moment between Mukund and his team. But rather, it comes across as a name-dropping contest to mention as many popular names as possible to get the cheers in the theatres. All said and done, there is no denying that Amaran is a worthy tribute to the legacy of Major Mukund Varadarajan. Even with all the glitches in between, the film makes us cherish and celebrate Mukund and the courageous officer he was.(more)

Sai Pallavi, Sivakarthikeyan stand tall in this tale of timeless love

Amaran shows a different Sivakarthikeyan, who understands his strengths and flaws, and has learnt to embrace it both. Rajkumar gets it right with the casting of the support cast too. Be it the experienced Rahul Bose who brings stoicism that befits such a role, or the young actors like Lallu, Bhuvan Arora, and the actors playing Kashmiri soldiers, their presence tells a deep story that helps the filmmaker do away with spending time delving into it.(more)

Sivakarthikeyan and Sai Pallavi march into our hearts with this soul-stirring action film

The brilliant writing overshadows the minor flaws of Amaran and while Im personally not a fan of films reusing yesteryear titles, this one happens to be a rare case where it feels befitting to the newer film. With Amaran, Rajkumar Periasamy hits it out of the park once again thanks to a pacy screenplay, marvellous performances and brilliant technical prowess, especially from GV Prakash who, apart from accentuating the mass sequences with rousing music, skillfully uses silence during the poignant moments.(more)

Amaran is a wonderful tribute to those serving in the army and their families and is a stark reminder that our freedom exists because of their sacrifices. One walks away from Amaran with a heavy heart for those who lost loved ones on the battlefield and yet, happy that their legacy will never go unknown and be immortalized on the silver screen thanks to directors like Rajkumar.(more)

'Amaran' - A Fitting Tribute to Major Mukund Varadarajan

Every frame of 'Amaran' reminds the audience of co-producer Kamal Haasan's presence. Director Rajkumar Periyasamy has brilliantly captured the essence of both the personal and the army life of Mukund Varadarajan. Its a story that needs to be told and is told in the best possible wa(more)

A Different Army Movie

The film rarely makes noise around the notion of nationhood and overt-preachy patriotism as the makers understand that this is ultimately the story of a brave soldier, who laid down his life for his country above anything else. The romance takes the central stage and we get a couple navigating the contours of a bumpy yet one-of-a-kind romance that sees no barriers, even post the ultimate goodbye. The name of Major Mukund will shine on forever, but it has to be seen whether this on screen iteration of the braveheart will shine through with the same intensity over the years.(more)
